Allergens Testing

Allergy is the most common chronic disease in Europe (EAACI, 2016) with the UK suffering some of the highest prevalence rates of allergic conditions in the world. It is estimated over 20% of the UK population is affected by allergy (M.L.Levy, 2004). The FSA estimates 1-2% of adults and 5-8% of children in the UK suffer from a food allergy.

Food Authenticity

PiQ Laboratories uses Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to detect meat species within food products which can be used to identify adulteration in both cooked and raw foods.

Food Authenticity

DNA is extracted from the food product and undergoes a number of processes prior to PCR analysis. The tests can detect adulteration down to an LOD of 0.1%. Continuous surveillance is important to protect manufacturers and retailers and detect fraudulent activity prior to consumption.
